October 2014 Birchbox

I’m sure most, if not all of you have gotten your Birchboxes for this month but I thought I’d post about mine. :) I genuinely liked most everything from my box.

Here’s what I received:

Party Proof Matte Lipstick in “Kitty” :  This is a semi-matte lipstick that I got to choose as my sample this month. I had hoped it would be a bit more matte but never-the-less I like it. It is a taupe-y/pinkish color which is nice. It can go with a lot of different makeup looks. <3

Full Size Price: $24

Coastal Scents Palette Sampler in “Ballerina”: Super excited to have received this!! The colors are absolutely gorgeous. I have brown eyes so I love playing up different colors, especially reds and rusty colors. You can mix these colors together in your look or just wear them by themselves. I think I may need to invest in the full Revealed 2 palette which only happens to be $19.95 at the moment. A savings of 20 dollars! :) <3

Full Size Price: Coastal Scents website says $39.95

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner: This is a gel used to get rid of the blackheads and gunk in your pores. You leave it on like a mask and when it turns blue, you simply wash it off. You can use this 2-3 times a week. I thought this worked pretty well. It didn’t harden too hard on my face and cause me to be uncomfortable. My pores felt tighter after using it.  Definitely will keep using this. The cost is a bit steep, though, for my liking. Awesome sample, in my opinion. <3

Full Sized Price: $45

Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle Leave in Conditioner: I’ve been using this after every shower. As it says, it’s a leave in conditioner and when I’m done towel drying my hair I spritz some of this into it, comb it, and call it good! This has helped to keep my hair from getting tangled and it helps to moisturize and add softness to my hair. I have thick, course hair that can sometimes be unmanageable. It smells really great and I feel like that fragrance stays in my hair. Love this <3

Full Size Price: $21.95

Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream: This is supposed to get rid of wrinkles and dark circles. I won’t tell you it did wonders for me, because I don’t think it did. I don’t have a problem with bags most the time but I do have some small lines around my eyes. It did, however, depuff my undereye. It contains cucumber, witch hazel and chamomile as well as virgin coconut oil and 99% other natural ingredients. I think I will try using this much more and see how it goes.

Full Size Price: $38

Over-all, I’d say I’m very pleased with this box! :) This may be my favorite box to date. I thought Birchbox chose some fantastic samples this month for it’s beauty box subscribers.

Candle Jar Makeup Brush Holder

Hey Beauties! :)

So, the other day I had a candle that was almost empty and I thought it’d be awesome to make a makeup brush holder, since I didn’t have one already. It’s very simple to make and it’s a great way to recycle something you might not normally keep.

You’ll only need a few simple items:

butter knife

liquid dish soap

cloth or sponge with scrubber

hot water

Alright, so now that you’ve got those items here’s what you’ll do:

  1. Take your candle and place it into the freezer for 20 mins or so. This will allow the wax to separate from the glass a little bit.

Absolutely love this candle, by the way. :) Reminds me of the holidays.

  2. After you’ve taken your candle out of the freezer, start breaking apart the wax in the candle. emptying-wax-from-candle
  3. If you have a candle warmer such as Scentsy or Glade (in this case I used my Scentsy warmer) you can break apart the wax and melt it in there for a room full of fragrance. :) I hated the fact of wasting any of my candle.Scentsy-candle-warmer
  4. Go ahead and peel the stickers off your candle. Sometimes there’s a sticker on the bottom. In this case, you’ll want to fill a sink with hot water and dish soap and submerge your candle for 20 minutes or so. empty-candle-jar
  5. After you pull your candle out, you’ll be able to peel the stickers off and take a wash cloth or sponge with soap on it to clean the jar. You may have to scrub harder on the dark spots. Let it dry, afterwards.
  6. Here’s what you should end up with! :) candle-jar-and-warmer

I love this brush holder. Not only is it cute, but it’s simple so it can go with any décor! I love the fact that it’s tall so my brushes don’t just flop all over the place.

I really hope you’ll give this a try. :) The cool thing is, is that different candle jars can be used for different purposes. Shorter ones can be used as lotion or antibacterial holders or even for lip balms and larger ones can be used for hair products, brushes, etc. The possibilities are endless. :D

Poll :)

Hey beauties <3 I was wondering if you could take a quick second to fill out my poll so I can get a better idea of what posts you like mostly. Thank you!
